The truck (arrived Sept '98) replaced the '97 F150.

The basics:

  • F-250 Superduty 4x4 pickup
  • Lariat, Supercab, Shortbed
  • V10 6.8l even firing gas motor (275HP, 400ft.lbs. or so Ford claims). See below for an update.
  • Reunel extreme duty solid stainless steel winch bumper (Thanks Tom)
  • Warn 12000lb industrial winch
  • Piaa 959 foglights
  • KC Daylighter Off-road driving lights
  • SnugTop Shell
  • Uniden Grant XL SSB CB & 5' Firestick Antenna (SWR 1.1-1.2)
  • Alpine Navigation system
  • Alpine sound system

Modifications:

Replaced stock running boards with 3" chrome tube steps/nerf bars. They're Ford OEM bars, but look remarkably like Westin Nerf Bars.

Update: Feb 19th 1999

The ProComp Explorer 4" Kit (dual front shocks) has been fitted. The truck now stands on 35" BFG ATs with Weld 16.5" rims. To cover the wheels I added new Bushwhacker fender flares.

Update: May 4th 1999

The Paxton NOVI 2000 Supercharger was fitted during our abbreviated Death Valley trip. Paxton claims the truck now has 400HP and 550lbs/ft torque ;-)

Update: September 1st 1999

New Alpine audio system, 12 disc changer, DVD player, Satellite Navigation system and alarm fitted.

Update: 2002

The truck is long gone. After blowing two transmissions I sold the F250. Then some craziness followed. In pretty short time I'd bought and sold an F150 SuperCrew 4x4, an F150 Lightning, an F350 CrewCab 4x4 and an Eddie Bauer Expedition.

I now have a F350 SuperCab 4x4 which is the newly built desert truck. It has it's own page.
